Privacy Policy

Last updated: 28 June 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use and protect your personal data when you use EditionDesk, in accordance with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and Czech data-protection law.

1. Data controller

EditionDesk is operated by Vendelín Kukla, a self-employed entrepreneur (OSVČ — “osoba samostatně výdělečně činná”) registered in the Czech Republic. Company ID (IČO): 22129791. Registered place of business: Sladkovského náměstí 309/6, Žižkov, 130 00 Praha 3, Czech Republic. Not a VAT payer (není plátcem DPH). Contact: support@editiondesk.com.

For any privacy request, contact us at support@editiondesk.com.

2. What we collect

  • Contact & account data — your email address (and name, if you provide it) when you join the waitlist or reserve a founding spot.
  • Payment data — when you subscribe, payment is handled by Stripe. We receive limited billing details (such as the last four digits of your card, country and payment status) but never your full card number.
  • Usage & device data — privacy-friendly, aggregated analytics about visits to our site (e.g. page views, country, device type) via Vercel Analytics, which does not use cookies and does not track you across other sites.
  • Correspondence — the content of emails you send us.

3. Why we use it & legal basis

  • To provide the Service and your reservation, and to bill you — performance of a contract (GDPR Art. 6(1)(b)).
  • To send you launch and account updates about your reservation — contract / legitimate interest; for any other marketing, consent (Art. 6(1)(a)), which you can withdraw at any time.
  • To keep the Service secure and improve it — legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f)).
  • To meet legal and accounting obligations — legal obligation (Art. 6(1)(c)).

4. Who we share it with (processors)

We do not sell your personal data. We share it only with service providers that process it on our behalf under appropriate agreements:

  • Stripe — payment processing and subscription billing.
  • Vercel — website hosting and privacy-friendly analytics.
  • Our email provider — to receive and send support email and launch updates.

Some providers are located outside the European Economic Area. Where that happens, transfers are protected by appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses.

5. How long we keep it

We keep your data only as long as needed for the purposes above: account and reservation data for as long as you have a subscription and a reasonable period afterwards; billing records for as long as required by accounting and tax law; and waitlist data until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it.

6. Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to:

  • access the personal data we hold about you;
  • have inaccurate data corrected;
  • have your data erased (“right to be forgotten”);
  • restrict or object to certain processing;
  • receive your data in a portable format; and
  • withdraw consent at any time, without affecting prior processing.

To exercise any of these, email support@editiondesk.com. We will respond within the time limits set by law.

7. Cookies & analytics

We keep tracking to a minimum. Our analytics (Vercel Analytics) is cookieless and aggregated, so we do not build advertising profiles or track you across other websites. Any strictly necessary cookies are used only to make the site function.

8. Security

We use reputable providers and reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your data. Payment data is handled by Stripe under PCI-DSS. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to keep your data safe and will notify you and the authorities of a breach where required.

9. Children

EditionDesk is a business tool not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 16.

10. Complaints

If you believe we have mishandled your data, please contact us first. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Czech supervisory authority, the Office for Personal Data Protection (Úřad pro ochranu osobních údajů), Pplk. Sochora 27, 170 00 Praha 7, Czech Republic — www.uoou.cz— or with the supervisory authority in your own EU country.

11. Changes

We may update this Policy from time to time. The current version is always on this page with its “Last updated” date.
